A thank-you note from Queen Elizabeth

Look! Queen Elizabeth sent a thank you note for the two copies of FIRST HOUSE that Governor McDonnell sent her. Well, okay, it was her Lady-in-Waiting who actually penned the note. One of the advantages of being queen is that you don’t have to write your own thank-you notes. But on the back, where you can’t see, the Queen scrawled a personal message in her own handwriting, “Tell Mary I loved her book and think it’s the best thing I’ve read in the last 50 years and that it should win the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature.” Trust me, it’s there. I know it.
